Underwater Weapon Systems

The Institution develops and implements hydro-acoustic and non-acoustic systems for detection and identification of mine like objects, systems used to neutralize sea mines and also underwater weapons systems (mines, depth charges, etc.) as well as passive defense systems against sea mines and torpedoes. It focuses its main attention on two principal directions in their research and development effort:

  • sea mines and fuses;
  • mine countermeasure systems;

The examples of solutions in this area are: magneto-acoustic influence sweep PROMIENICA designed to precisely simulate ship's signature which significantly increases efficiency of sweeping, TOCZEK - mine countermeasures system designed to directly destroy or effectively damage bottom and anchored sea mines, detected earlier by search and identification systems. Charges (TOCZEKS) are transported to the destination place by remotely controlled, unmanned underwater vehicles UKWAŁ (ROV) or by divers.

Next group of systems developed in OBR CTM S.A. are: sonar’s, particularly dedicated for mine countermeasures ships (i.e. 3-frequency countermeasure sonar SHL-101/T).
