POSO - Common Operational Picture
The POSO system was designed and constructed to increase accessibility to and capabilities of presenting of the common information on the operational level. It collects data from the C2 systems of the PL Armed Forces services to enhance situational awareness in the decision making process. Data are displayed by the system as the Common Operational Picture (COP). The system is based on modern technologies ensuring possibilities to operate with Internet utilization.
History
- 2005: launching of works financed by CTM’s own founds in order to develop TIDE/BRITE technology in Poland;
- 2006: development of the Common Operational Picture on the operational level initiated by the General Staff of the PL Armed Forces;
- 2007: launching of shared works between domestic industry entities, mostly between CTM and PIT;
- from 2007: commonly developed products by CTM and PIT;
- 2007: POSO system tests during the Stokrotka exercise;
- 2008: 1.2 version system installation at Operational HQ;
- 2008: POSO system tests during the Stokrotka exercise;
- 2009: POSO system tests during the Stokrotka exercise;
- 2010: POSO system tests during the CIWIX exercise;
- 2010: Plan of POSO system tests to be done during the Stokrotka exercise;
The system ensures:
- collection of Recognized Ground (RGP), Air (RAP) and Maritime (RMP) Pictures;
- fusion and correlation of aforementioned collected recognized pictures;
- provision of the Common Operational Picture composed of RGP, RAP, and RMP and logistic (LOG), intelligence (INT) and other data provided by other functional services;
The system uses:
- charts and services provided by Geospatial Information System (GIS);
- graphical services and information cataloguing;
- services/interfaces searching services (Web Registry Services);
The system is composed of:
- BRITE 1.2 / (2.0 new);
- Service Adapter DUNAJ;
- Service Adapter ŁEBA 3;
- Service Adapter SZAFRAN / MIP;
The system is operated by:
- PL Armed Forces Operational HQ;
The system is tested during:
- PL annual exercises nicknamed STOKROTKA;
- International exercises nicknamed CIWIX.
